A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident caused the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions follow a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, two women were robbed of their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Police detained a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault near the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Authorities were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals hurt by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
