It's tough for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a team that has accomplished all there is.

That it took until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batsmen to hold a record if not afforded the possibility.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to produce her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her bow and seven world titles have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the reasoning behind final game tension. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was considerably tougher to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this innings came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in training, it has been a frustrating experience because it seemed I've had no rhythm whatsoever," stated Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive nature activate and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the opening delivery and from that point the batsman was underway.

"A chance to go out there and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was removed Australia required another 66 at run per delivery - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the belief to do that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, should it happen, we believe we can succeed."

That comment will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this triumph following victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

During that phase they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at an important competition.

So great is her will, she later said she regretted not playing despite the injury.

However although she later admitted those fitness problems have delayed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is expected to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
